First of all, thank you to all those who came out to Venice Art Crawl last Thursday night to meet me, Golda, and Olga! We had a wonderful time chatting with everyone! For those who couldn’t make it, we are working hard on making future meetups possible.
Recently we received an invitation to attend NoHo Dine Out Fridays, an outdoor food and music event located in a parking lot in North Hollywood. A live band performed in the front of the lot near the street. In the back, we saw two vendors selling crafts and dog products, which we will talk more about in detail later. Tables and chairs were located in the center. While it sounds like the event was small, it clearly excelled in the variety of food available.
With more than half a dozen food trucks parked around the lot, NoHo Dine Out Fridays is best known for dining. I did notice that most of the food trucks present sold their own variation of fries. For instance, Currywurst offered crispy garlic fries. On the other hand, The Garbage Truck sold trash fries loaded with hot dog, cheese, meat sauce, chopped onions, and mustard. One of the staff called the trash fries “the chili-cheese fries of the East Coast.” There’s even a truck that sells Pies and Fries. Golda finally decided to order Chimichurri steak fries from Chasing Paradise. Despite being topped with parmesan cheese, tomatoes, sriracha, and ranch, the carne asada on the fries were rather dry and bland. As for me, I ordered a chicken, spinach, and cheese pupusa from Vchos with a side of curtido or spicy pickled Salvadoran coleslaw. Although it took awhile for the staff to prepare, the pupusa was definitely worth the time. The tortilla used was soft and warm, and the cheese oozed out with every bite. However, the curtido was definitely too spicy and sour for my liking. While NoHo Dine Out Fridays are known for their food, they are also recognized for another component.
NoHo Dine Out Fridays also focus on the dogs, which is why there’s a vendor selling dog products. Proceeds from the event are also donated to a local dog rescue group. They also advocate dog adoption on their website. It’s not surprising to find families bringing their fellow canines out to dine with them.
If you’re looking for food options in North Hollywood on a Friday night, definitely give NoHo Dine Out Fridays a try. It’s also one of the few events in Los Angeles that encourage you to bring your dog. NoHo Dine Out Fridays is located in a parking lot on 11452 Burbank Blvd. You can park your car for free inside the lot. The North Hollywood Metro Station is only a short walk away, and you can also take buses 152, 154, 156, 162, 163, 183 224, 363, and 656.
So what is your favorite type of fries, and what is your favorite breed of dog? Please leave a response in our comments.
Until next time,
